 Astronomers have calculated that such an object so close to Earth
would be visible to anyone looking up at the night sky.. A far more
apocalyptic view of the year 2012 that has spread in various media
describes the end of the world or of human civilization on that date.
Professional Mayanist scholars state that predictions of impending
doom are not found in any of the extant classic Maya accounts, and
that the idea that the Long  Count calendar "ends" in 2012
misrepresents Maya history and culture.

dilemma of knowing what is going to happen but

not being able to resolve the problem...
